On 21 March 2019, across five continents and in over 150 French embassies and consulates, chefs will propose their vision of a French-style dinner in an extensive programme celebrating sustainable cuisine. A menu for the planet: each menu will feature dishes that are low in fat, sugar and salt, and reflect concern for good food and the environment.

From 6 March 2019, all participating restaurants will be presented on the www.goodfrance.com website. All over the world, everyone will be able to identify the dinners organized in their country and city and discover a menu to savour on 21 March.

This year, Goût de/Good France has chosen to support the No More Plastic Foundation represented by Alexandra Cousteau. She will moderate a round table entitled “Good Impact” in Paris on 22 March, discussing environmental and resource preservation with chefs, scientists and business leaders.

Provence, featured destination of Goût de/Good France, will be showcased at the various events in France and abroad. For the first time, the Bouches-du-Rhône Department and Provence Tourism are launching MPG2019 (Marseille-Provence Gastronomie 2019): One thousand events in a year of celebrations, meetings between chefs, gourmet markets, picnics, urban vegetable gardens and more – a genuine gastronomic journey through Provence!

Gastronomy: an asset for France’s attractiveness

As the world’s leading tourist destination, France’s goal is to attract 100 million foreign visitors by 2020 and generate €60 billion in tourist revenue.

Gastronomy is one of the pillars of France’s attractiveness to tourists. With a third of tourists saying that they visit France for its culinary heritage, it is clearly a major part of its international outreach. The depth and uniqueness of French cuisine, the wide range of local produce and the inscription of the “Gastronomic Meal of the French” on the UNESCO List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity all help France stay at the top of global tourism destinations. Goût de/Good France promotes the excellence of this expertise and is thus an essential tool for promoting destination France.

Kathmandu, March 7th, 2019: The French Embassy in Nepal organized a press conference today (March 07th) at the Residence of France to introduce the fifth edition of “Goût de France (गु द फ्रान्स) / Good France”.

Goût de France / Good France is a unique global gastronomical event held on 5 continents in over 150 countries which has entered its fifth consecutive year. This global event will see about 5000 chefs making a “French dinner” with a local twist on the same evening (March 21st) with one common objective: celebrate responsible French gastronomy with greater concern for the environment with the help of local talent and products.

During the press conference organized at the Résidence of France, French Ambassador to Nepal, H.E. Mr. François – Xavier LEGER (फ्रंस्वा जाविये लेजे ) talked about the gastronomical values that are common in both Nepal and France. He said, “…As a Frenchman, it gives me immense pleasure to see the importance being given to developing a food culture and being innovative. I have found that Nepal and France share common values when it comes to gastronomy: Like in France, Nepal also believes in shared meals, in the friendly atmosphere, and use of local organic products. ”

Ambassador LEGER also talked about how the gastronomical partners participating in this Good France event spreads the message of a new Nepal: a young, dynamic, vibrant country that is open to the outside.
