Message from the outgoing Ambassador, Mr Yves Carmona
My duties in Nepal ended on July 16th, so as my career: the time has come for retirement!
I was proud to serve France and its longstanding friendship with Nepal. I did it in limited material conditions that you all know, surrounded by a high quality team and with the desire to do the best I could.
I was fortunate to discover Nepal at a key moment in its history, when the country was recovering from the 2015 earthquake and the blockade that followed. After the implementation of the new Constitution in 2018, democratic elections and the constitution of a government destined to stability, Nepal holds the cards to make rapid progress.
My successor has been designated and shall take office early September. Arnaud Champy will be chargé d’affaires a.i. till then.
The year 2019 will mark the 70th anniversary of our diplomatic relations and I hope that we will know how to celebrate this event in accordance with its importance. I am confident that the works undertaken to reinforce our relations will certainly pay off in the near future.
I wish you a good continuation, health, prosperity and a joyful participation in the future development of Nepal!
Kathmandu, 16 July 2018
