Members of the European Parliament to visit Nepal 21 to 24 March 2007 (press release from the Delegation of the European Commission to Nepal, 20 March 2007)
For the second time within the past nine months Members of the European Parliament (MEP) are arriving in Nepal for a four-day visit from 21 March to 24 March 2007.
The 5-member Delegation will be led by Mrs. Neena GILL, Chair of the European Parliament’s Delegation to SAARC and South Asia Countries.
The MEPs will meet representatives of the government such as the Prime Minister, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Election Commission as well as of the civil society, business community, media and the Bhutanese Movement Steering Committee. They will also have talks with international organisations including SAARC, UNMIN, OHCHR, development agencies, diplomatic missions and EU Member States present in Kathmandu.
The discussions will focus especially on the peace process, preparations for the Constituent Assembly elections and the Bhutanese refugee situation.
