In December 2006, India’s medium-sized companies and larger business groups will have the unprecedented opportunity to network with 200 multi-sector French SMEs on the occasion of
the Indo-French Business Meet, which will be held in New Delhi on 4-5 December. Under the aegis of the French Ministry of Foreign Trade and the Indian Ministry of Commerce and
Industry, extensive business meetings will be organised in order to initiate new partnerships between players from India and France. This unique event is being organised by UBIFRANCE and the French Embassy in India, in partnership with FICCI.

On 4-5 December 2006, 200 French SMEs and hundreds of Indian corporate participants will assemble at Le Meridien Hotel in New Delhi on the occasion of the Indo-French Business Meet 2006. This prestigious and exciting event will facilitate contacts for Indian business executives and entrepreneurs who are seeking reliable suppliers and technology partners across all sectors of activity.Indian businesses looking for new partnerships, technology transfers or distribution contracts will be offered a unique opportunity to get in touch with experienced suppliers, selected according to their individual requirements. Each business meeting will last 30 minutes, allowing participants to promote their products and know-how, with a view to forge business deals or to prepare the ground for future business relations.

A specific programme has been designed for the Agribusiness and Food Processing Sector, with visits across the country followed by personalised meetings at the premises of the International Food Drink & Hospitality Exhibition (IFE) at Pragati Maidan, in New Delhi, on 7-8 December. French exports to India increased by 40% in 2005 and new investments from France are currently pouring into the country. The French government has designated the fast-growing Indian market as one of its top priorities for its programme aimed at expanding the French business outside France. One of the main
objectives of this export-support programme is to help French SMEs gain a better understanding of India’s business environment and of the unique opportunities it has to offer. The Indo-French Business Meet 2006 will be an ideal forum in this respect.

Nepal is also invited to participate to this event. An agent from the economic mission from Delhi is right now in Kathmandu in order to identify Nepal’s importations needs and to register some company interested in developing new, business, new partnership with France. Thanks to cooperation between French Embassy and Nepal French Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Nepal Foreign Trade Association, European Economic Chamber and FNCCI, many actors will be present on the forum. The objective is to regain confidence of the French exporter and to start again the bilateral relationship. This is a real opportunity for Nepal after ten years of political instability and civil war.
