PRESS RELEASE - May 5th, 2010
The Prime Minister meets European Ambassadors
The EU Ambassadors of Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, United Kingdom and the European Union Delegation, as well as the Ambassadors of Norway and Switzerland, met the Prime Minister at his invitation on May the 5th.
They expressed their concern at the disruption and incidents of violence caused by the Maoist strike, and welcomed the restraint so far shown by both sides. They urged the Prime Minister to negotiate a solution with the UCPN-M by the weekend. "The peace process is under strain, and all parties should avoid provocative statements and actions," said Ambassador Gilles-Henry Garault, local Presidency of the European Union.
