Concert of Cellist Frank Bernède on 15th July 2005
On 15th July 2005, the Embassy of France in Nepal and Alliance Française de Katmandou organized a concert by cellist Frank Bernède, who interpreted the three first solo cello suites of J. S. Bach. The public of the capital rarely have the occasion to listen European classical music.
Moreover, Franck Bernède is going to organize a concert ‘Gandharva Vidya - Bardes of Himalayas’, on 21st October in the Cité de la Musique in Paris (La Villettte).
Presented for the first time in an occidental country, the art of bards of Indo-Nepalese central Himalayas is still very little known in the west. This rich patrimony of popular ballade, integrating dance and music, includes the singing epics (Bhârat) and the ceremonial music (jâgar).
